Need for Speed 2015 Revealed

It was tipped to be Need for Speed Underground 3, but EA have revealed what the next game in the series will be and it’s not too far from what we were expecting.

The new Need for Speed is called simply that – Need for Speed. It is a reboot for the series that looks to go back to its roots and return to the urban culture of street racing that we haven’t seen for quite a while now. EA are headlining this as “A New Era”.

Unite the Culture of Speed. With over 20 years of history in its rear view mirror, Need for Speed™ returns with a reboot that delivers on what Need for Speed stands for – rich customization, authentic urban car culture, a nocturnal open world, and an immersive narrative that drives your NFS game. Fuelled by our very own car culture community, Speedhunters has helped deliver a NFS experience that is grounded in authentic car culture by diving into the world of past, present and emergent trends of the urban car scene. NFS will unleash the passion for cars when it releases this Autumn, 2015.

This Need for Speed is being developed by Ghost Games, who also produced 2013’s Need for Speed Rivals. Marcus Nilsson, Executive Producer at Ghost Games, says, “Need for Speed is one of the most iconic names in gaming, and we’re returning it to greatness in this reboot. Pulling on our 20 years of history and then taking a year out from releasing a game, we are making the game we’ve always wanted to. We’re listening to the fans and delivering an experience that will capture their imagination and unleash their passion for cars and speed.”

A tweet from DICE’s technical director has also revealed that Need for Speed will use the same engine that is being used for Star Wars Battlefront, so it will surely be gorgeous.

The full reveal will be on the 15th June, 2015 with the first look at customisation and will be released this Autumn, no firm date as of yet.

I created rKade, hence the name! My favourite game has to be Uncharted 2 - I was 16 when that game come out and it was just huge. My favourite film is Back to the Future, closely followed by Die Hard, of course.
