‘Need for Speed Payback’ Announced

EA have today announced Need for Speed Payback. The latest game in the long-running series that seems to draw from other driving influences, i.e. Fast & Furious and Burnout. EA have said that this game is an explosive adventure filled with intense heist missions, high stakes car battles, epic cop pursuits and jaw dropping set pieces. It’s blockbuster gameplay never before seen from the series, fueled by a gripping story of betrayal and revenge.

The heist missions stand-out of course, and judging by the trailer below, it’s definitely the kind we have seen in those Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson of late. It looks cool in the trailer, but lets hope it’s not a gimmick and actually a really exciting way to play Need for Speed Payback.

Payback is set in Fortune Valley (really, you’d think they’d come up with cooler names that don’t sound this dumb). But you’ll be playing 3 characters in the form of Tyler, the Racer; Mac, the Showman; and Jess, the Wheelman to earn the respect of the underground. That’s enough background, check out the trailer for Need for Speed Payback below…“Need for Speed returns this year to challenge what players expect from racing games. We’re still delivering everything our fans love about the franchise – the deepest customisation, an impressive roster of cars, intense races and open world pursuits – but with Need for Speed Payback, we’re bringing together all those elements in an all new blockbuster driving experience. From the story, to the different characters you can drive as, to the varied missions, to the edge-of-your-seat moments, this is our vision for what action driving entertainment means today.”“Set in the underworld of Fortune Valley, you and your crew are reunited by a search for vengeance against The House, a nefarious cartel that rules the city’s casinos, criminals, and cops.”If we can be certain, it is that the game will look great – it’s based on the same frostbite engine used across EA games such as Battlefield, FIFA and Star Wars Battlefront. And with the inclusion of heists, it looks set to add more variety to the racing gameplay too. But let’s hope it pays off.

I created rKade, hence the name! My favourite game has to be Uncharted 2 - I was 16 when that game come out and it was just huge. My favourite film is Back to the Future, closely followed by Die Hard, of course.
