Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Trailer

Disney teases Rogue One: A Star Wars StoryThis week marks the release of Star Wars Episode VIII: The Force Awakens on Blu-ray and DVD.

Just as we are getting excited over that, Disney goes and drops us the eagerly anticipated teaser for the next Star Wars film entitled Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Take a look at the trailer below.Rogue One sees the mission to steal the plans for the Death Star, which is the planet-destroying weapon of the evil Empire. The film takes place between Episodes III and IV, bridging the gap between the prequels and the sequels.

This would seemingly open the possibilities of other Star Wars universe stories taking place in the time period. Take a look at a recent interview with Ewan McGregor, who played Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequels below.

Disney are clearly not afraid to deviate from the Episode timeline. Episode VIII is set to come out at the back end of 2017, directed and written by Rian Johnson (Looper). Filming is currently underway for that as we speak!

Rogue One will be directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, 2014). It stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen and Alan Tudyk.
