Top 10 Games to Buy Christmas 2016 – Part II

The countdown to Christmas has begun, rKade takes a look at the best games this festive period!Hopefully, you would have read Part I of this list – so once you’ve caught p to speed, please read on for the final five games on our list of Top 10 Games to Buy this Christmas, 2016. Let’s do this!# 5 // WATCH DOGS 2What’s it about?Use hacking as a weapon in the massive & dynamic open world of Watch Dogs 2. In 2016, ctOS 2.0, an advanced operating system networking city infrastructure, was implemented in several US cities to create a safer, more efficient metropolis.

Play as Marcus Holloway, a brilliant young hacker living in the birthplace of the tech revolution, the San Francisco Bay Area. Team up with Dedsec, a notorious group of hackers, and expose the hidden dangers of ctOS 2.0, which, in the hands of corrupt corporations, is being wrongfully used to monitor and manipulate citizens on a massive scale.

With the power of hacking and Dedsec by your side, launch the Hack of the Century, take down ctOS 2.0 and give freedom back to whom it belongs: the people.rKade verdict! Now, the original Watch Dogs had a huge amount of hype when we saw trailers from E3 back before the PlayStation 4’s launch. It looked gorgeous and really exciting. But when the game launch, it was a wet fart really. Underwhelming story, lifeless main character and dumbed down visuals from the trailers. I was one of those gamers who pretty much felt let down by the whole experience.

For Watch Dogs 2 the game has been improved on pretty much every level. A cool new protagonist who already has more charisma than the original lead, more gameplay variety and better hacking.

If you fancy a switch up from GTA V, Watch Dogs 2 will be right up your street! Available from the rKade Store

# 4 // CALL OF DUTY: INFINITE WARFARE LEGACY EDITIONWhat’s it about?Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will take players on an unforgettable journey as they engage in battles from Earth to beyond our atmosphere against a relentless, enemy faction that threatens our very way of life. It’s grand scale war and hallmark Call of Duty action with memorable characters, rich emotional arcs, and stunning new environments, all within an epic new setting.

PLUS…Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered:

One of the most critically-acclaimed games in history, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is back, remastered in true high-definition featuring improved textures, physically based rendering, high-dynamic range lighting and much more to bring a new generation experience to fans. Relive the iconic campaign as you are transported around the globe with Capt. Price, Gaz and Soap across fan favorite missions, including “All Ghillied Up,” “Mile High Club,” and “Crew Expendable.” And team up with your friends with 10 of the iconic multiplayer maps from the online multiplayer mode that redefined Call of Duty introducing killstreaks, XP, Prestige and more in customizable, classic multiplayer modes.Surely we have all played this game – because it was absolutely sensational first time around. rKade verdict! In 2007, the world was bless with a game that actually introduced me to first-person shooters – Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The game was unreal. Killstreaks, exciting action, smooth gameplay and a really complete campaign mode.

Since then Call of Duty has gone a bit overboard in terms of realism, killstreaks and a future setting. Which is why nearly everyone who played Call of Duty 4 has been crying out for a remake of the infamous title. When Activision announced that Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered would be bundled with Infinite Warfare in a legacy edition, we felt like it was 2007 all over again.

Having played the Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered since release, I can confirm it’s every bit as beautiful as I remembered, and then some. The remaining multiplayer maps will be released just in time for Xmas this year too, so more of a reason to get this game now. As for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, which is required to play MW Remastered, I honestly haven’t bothered with it (yet!) because the double-jumping shit just doesn’t do it for me personally. But I know a lot of people love this fast-paced version of Call of Duty, so I’m not knocking it, but boots to ground is more my cup of earl grey to be honest! Available from the rKade Store

# 3 // ROCKET LEAGUEWhat’s it about?Take control of your own high-flying, hard-hitting, rocket-powered Battle-Car in the critically-acclaimed, futuristic Sports-Action hit, Rocket League: Collector’s Edition, combining all the fun and fervor of the original base game, plus all the cars and content found in the highly-popular “Supersonic Fury, Revenge of the Battle-Cars,” and “Chaos Run” game add ons, 4 additional battle-cars and a limited edition lithographic print. If FIFA and Need for Speed ever had a baby, Rocket League would be your result! rKade verdict!Believe it or not, this game is more fun and addictive than I ever thought it would be!

I’m a gamer who loves those big games with big budgets and gorgeous graphics. But that doesn’t always make a great game. On the flip, Rocket League relies on its concept, incredible gameplay and sheer fun – something which pays off massively. Again, an even better game when playing with your mates; you’ll laugh more than you’ve laughed playing most games, trust me! Available from the rKade Store

# 2 // FINAL FANTASY XVWhat’s it about?Enroute to wed his fiancée Luna on a roadtrip with his best friends, Prince Noctis is advised by news reports that his homeland has been invaded and taken over under the false pretence of a peace treaty – and that he, his loved one and his father King Regis, have been slain at the hands of the enemy.

To gather the strength needed to uncover the truth and reclaim his homeland, Noctis and his loyal companions must overcome a series of challenges in a spectacular open world – that is filled with larger-than-life creatures, amazing wonders, diverse cultures and treacherous foes.If you’ve been a big fan of Final Fantasy for some time, this entry into the franchise makes some bold changes, including an open-world and real time battle system that you may not be used to. It’s nice to change things up a bit, but will you like it?

So instead of talking out of my arse, I will refer you to this review of the game. I don’t know it all see! rKade verdict! You know Final Fantasy, that long-running Japanese Role Playing Game franchise? Well Final Fantasy XV is the latest instalment. As you have probably guessed from this list, I am not a fantasy genre kinda guy. But this is a list to offer all sorts of gamers something to try, so FFXV had to be included. I’m not that ignorant to ignore it just because I don’t like it. Available from the rKade Store

# 1 // RAINBOW SIX SIEGEWhat’s it about?Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is the upcoming installment of the acclaimed first-person shooter franchise developed by the renowned Ubisoft Montreal studio for the next generation of consoles and PC.

Inspired by the reality of counter-terrorist operatives across the world, Rainbow Six Siege invites players to master the art of destruction. Intense close-quarters confrontations, high lethality, tactics, team play, and explosive action are at the centre of the experience.

The multiplayer gameplay of Rainbow Six Siege sets a new bar for intense firefights and expert strategy in the rich legacy of past Rainbow Six games.A new kind of FPS that is very different from other games at the moment. It’s tough, relies on co-operation but is a ton of fun!rKade verdict!Rainbow Six Siege is a very different game from when it launched back in November 2015. This is thanks to the incredible post-launch support from Ubisoft. 4 seasons on DLC were promised in Year 1, which brought 8 new operators (roles you can play in the games), 4 new maps, new weapons and plenty more. Not only that, but each season has a pretty hefty mid-season update. These updates includes bug fixes, game balances, operators tweaks, new gadgets added and so much more. Just take a look at these patch notes from Season 3. If that wasn’t enough, Ubisoft have announced the game will be receiving Year 2 support, so expect 8 new operators again, with 4 more new maps and plenty of other changes.

I have played this game more than any other in the past 12 months. It is so addictive and it’s strange to see a game grow after launch, where you would usually find your interest in a game dwindles after a few months. With the Year 2 support coming now, I’m even more excited as what is to come for Rainbow Six Siege over the next 12 months. Easily one of the most underrated games on current-gen consoles. So my advice is, get this game for Christmas if you haven’t already! Even better, convince 4 other friends to do so too and form your own team to take on others – this is easily the best way to play the game! Available from the rKade Store

Please share if you enjoyed this list! We hope you are all getting into the Christmas spirit now, and really hope you enjoy playing games over the next few weeks when we usually get to spend a bit more time at home – in front of the consoles!

As mentioned, all the games in the list are available from the rKade Store, but for even more games and consoles, make sure to hit the link below.

I created rKade, hence the name! My favourite game has to be Uncharted 2 - I was 16 when that game come out and it was just huge. My favourite film is Back to the Future, closely followed by Die Hard, of course.
